Safety Rating and Risk Mapping for the Greek network

Safety Rating and Risk Mapping including the Greek TEN-T network have been presented in two scientific papers accepted for publication in the 6th Greek Road Safety Conference Proceedings on 12-13 March 2015, in Athens.  Lead author Dr Evangelos Bellos (Make Roads Safe Hellas) and colleagues describe the survey and the resultant Safer Roads Investment Plans.  On the 3,600km surveyed, 54% achieved 1- or 2 Stars, 45% was rated 3-star.

Separately, Dr Bellos and Transportation Solutions’ Stelios Efstathiadis also presented on “Road Infrastructure Risk Assessment: A Valuable Tool For Investment Decisions” at the People, Buildings and Environment 2014 International Conference, on 15-17 October 2014, in Kroměříž, Czech Republic.  A Star Rating case study was presented of two of the most dangerous national roads in Crete, the largest Greek island and a very popular tourist destination.
